What We’re Missing: Trauma Informed Approaches To Risk-Taking & Challenging Behaviors
Challenging behaviors, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder and even ADHD can all have their roots in trauma, abuse and neglect. This presentation explores how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma are linked to learning problems, violence, anxiety, depression, even addiction, and how they can affect the school environment. These problems often run generationally in families. In addition to trauma in the home environment, issues of economic insecurity, racism and community violence can significantly affect the development of children. Attendees will be presented with how a more trauma-informed approach can bring better outcomes when working with the children and families you serve.
